The george foundation -
for Photography, Film
and Media Arts
The george foundation concentrates on photography,
film and new media art. The foundation would like to
promote innovative
and unorthodox projects of a pioneering nature in these
areas. It also involves
itself in projects, which grapple
with current social problems and are of importance for future
generations. It is based in Winterthur/Switzerland and
is a non-profit foundation under the supervision of
the Canton
of Zurich.
The name George recalls the cultural activities of George
Reinhart (1942-1997), who initiated the Fotomuseum Winterthur
and promoted innumerable projects in the areas of photography,
film, literature and music.
Areas of promotion and support
The george foundation promotes and supports
projects, predominantly those initiated by invitation, as well as artists in the areas of photography,
film and media art. In these areas, the foundation
involves itself in high-quality, innovative and socially-engaged
projects. It
is open to change and therefore also promotes new and unorthodox
projects of a pioneering nature.
Photography
In the photography sphere, engaged documentary
photographs take precedence. Artistic photography
is also promoted.
Film
Documentary films - both long and shorts films - are in the focus of the activities of george foundation.
Media Arts
In this field the george foundation is open for ideas and projects, virtual art, web applications and installations.
